Chicago O'Hare Airport T5

I arrived at Chicago O'Hare Airport Terminal 5 around 2:05pm for my 7:20pm flight to Copenhagen. Luckily, I already had my mobile boarding pass so I could go straight to immigration and security since the SAS check-in desks were still closed that time.

Delta Sky Club

There are two Skyteam Lounges in Chicago O'Hare Terminal 5 namely the Delta Sky Club and the Air France Lounge. Between the two, the Delta Sky Club is definitely the go to lounge if you have access.

Air France Lounge

The Air France Lounge is also nice but has limited food offerings so I did not stay that long.

Boarding, Gate M16

Our SAS flight was about 2 hours delayed (from 7:20pm to 9:20pm). Boarding began at 8:55pm, 20 minutes after the crew boarded.

Business Class Cabin

The business cabin is in a 1-2-1 configuration from rows 1 to 8 with a total of 32 seats. On this flight, all business seats were occupied.

Seat 4A

Seat 4A is a window seat

I have flown the A330 twice last year, one from Copenhagen to New York and one from Atlanta to Copenhagen. The seats (Thompson Vantage XL seats) are almost fully flat so it was okay. Sadly, the lights in the business class cabin could not be turned off so we had full lights on the whole flight back to Copenhagen.

The movie selection was good but not in par with Emirates or Turkish Airlines. I ended up watching the continuation of F1 the Movie.

Foot well (seats in row

Safety card and air-sickness bag

To the right of the seat, you'll find a small storage where the headphones, amenity kit, seat controls, bottle of water, IFE controller and power ports were located.

Light and seat control

Noise cancelling headphones

Pre-departure Beverage

Moments after settling in, I was offered something to drink. They had sparkling wine, apple juice and cranberry juice (which I took).

Amenity Kit, Blanket & Pillow

Pillow and blanket by the Swedish company DUX.

DUX amenity kit

The contents included the usual dental kits, eye mask, socks, ear plugs and Verso lip balm and face cream. I still consider the amenity kits of Qatar Airways and Saudia to be generous.

Pushback & Take Off

Pushback was at 9:34pm and at 10pm, we were airborne.

Dining

Menu card and drinks list

Cocktails and mocktails

Dinner

Pre-landing

The champagne was the usual Charles Heidsieck Brut.

Non-alcoholic, tea and coffee

Beers, liquors, cognac

To start the meal, the flight attendant offered the usual cashew nuts which was served with some drinks. I opted for the Above the Clouds mocktail.

Bread and butter, apple juice

For appetizer, I had the scallops which was good. The other option was Thai shaking beef with cucumber salad.

For my main course, I had the Beef top blade steak which was very good. The other choices were Oven-baked pasta and Ponzu marinated chicken.

I had a little of cheese and the Frangipane tart, both of which were very good.

To end the meal, I had the white tea. Overall, dinner was very good.

Time to Sleep

As usual, I had to do the turn-down service myself 😉 I slept for a few hours which was good.

Breakfast

Hot towels were offered around 2 hours before landing.

Breakfast was served which they call "Scandinavian Breakfast".

Wifi

Sadly, wifi was not working 👎

Lavatory

The lavatories are located at the back of the cabin which were kept clean but not in the same way as how Qatar Airways do it 😉

Landing in Copenhagen

We landed in Copenhagen Kastrup Airport at 12:43pm.

CONCLUSION

It was my 3rd time to fly on SAS A330 so I knew more or less what to expect with the seats. Sadly, the lights in the business cabin which could not be turned off was not something any passenger would like on a night flight. The wifi not working and the delay of 2 hours were not appreciated either. Fortunately, the crew were friendly. The food were tasty especially the beef. Overall, a nice flight and a very good use of 30K SAS miles 👍
