Qatar Airways Platinum & Gold Lounge, North Node

After spending a night at the Oryx Garden Hotel, the free transit hotel provided by Qatar Airways, I headed to the Platinum and Gold Lounge which is steps away from the hotel to have some breakfast. This is actually the best lounge to visit if you have gold status with Qatar Airways as this is a combined platinum and gold lounge. The reason why I could not access the Al Mourjan Garden is because I upgraded my economy class ticket and all upgrades to business class do not give access, neither to the Al Mourjan Lounge nor the Al Mourjan Business Lounge.

The Orchard, North Node

Also located in the North Node is The Orchard which will remind you of Singapore´s Jewel at Changi Airport 👍

Boarding, Gate C43

I reached the boarding gate at 7:35am where economy class passengers were allowed to take the bus first.

As most flights departing from these gates, passengers take buses to get to the aircraft. The good thing is there is a separate bus for business class passengers. Eight minutes after leaving the gate, we reached the remote stand.

Aircraft, Boeing 787-8

Today, we are flying with a Boeing 787 with registration A7-BCR which is about 10 years old.

Business Class Cabin

The business class cabin is in a 1-2-1 configuration.

With a total of 22 seats, all passengers have aisle access.

Seat, 5A

Already waiting at my seat are 2 pillows, a duvet, a bottle of water, a Diptyque amenity kit and refreshing towel.

Personal screen

IFE Controller

Business class menu card and wine list, Safety card, bottle of water and Diptyque amenity kit

The contents of the pouch bag were the same as the one I got when I flew with them from Kuala Lumpur to Doha although that one was a boxed kit.

Seat controls, Diptyque refreshing towel

Pillow, noise cancelling headphones

Another pillow 👍

Shoe storage

Storage

I ended up watching Venom The Last Dance and then a little of Joker.

Pre-departure Beverage

Moments after settling in, Maria introduced herself as the flight attendant taking care of me. She asked if I wanted to drink something and I settled for a glass of apple juice. She also took my order for lunch although I told her I´d take a nap first and will eat before landing in Stockholm, which was not a problem as Qatar Airways offers dine-on-demand 👍

Take Off

We had a short taxi and at 8:49am, we were airborne.

Arabic Coffee and Dates

Minutes after the seat belt sign was turned off, the crew started offering Arabic coffee and dates which I happily accepted.

Complimentary Wifi

On this flight, complimentary 1-hour wifi was also offered, with paid subscriptions being 5, 10 and 20 USD.

Onboard Bar

Moments later, the onboard bar (behind row 5 and in front of row 6) was prepared.

Turn down Service

Although turn down service was offered, I decided to decline and just slept with no mattress pad on the seat. I was able to sleep for a few hours and then decided to watch some movies.

Dining

Breakfast and All Day Dining

Champagnes on board were Charles Heidsieck and Duval Leroy.

Cocktails, spirits, Cognac, beer

I decided to order the Qatari lamb white kabsa with hashu from the Pre-select dining menu. Around 3 hours before landing, I asked for my food to be served.

First, I had the cream of celery soup which was delicious.

I also had the non-alcoholic So Jenny.

The Qatari lamb was very good 😋

The cheese selection was also very good, although I prefer the one I got from my Kuala Lumpur to Doha flight.

I had the warm praline cookie with hazelnut ice cream which was heavenly 👍

I had a cup of chamomile tea to end the meal. I was also offered a Diptyque refreshing towel.

Lavatory

There are two lavatories, both of which were located behind row 5, one on the left and one on the right side. It was always kept clean by the FAs, and well supplied with dental kits, shaving kits, and Diptyque hand lotion and facial spray.

Landing in Stockholm

We landed in Stockholm at 12:54pm way ahead of schedule, and reached our gate 13 minutes later.

CONCLUSION

Just like my previous flights with Qatar Airways in business class, this flight was just as enjoyable. The crew were fantastic, the dine-on-demand was perfect as I was able to take a nap first before having my lunch and of course, the meal from the soup to dessert was fantastic. The seats offering aisle access was a big plus. Lastly, the amenity kit from Diptyque was lovely. Overall, it was a very nice flight and hopefully, I get another chance to fly with them in the future 👍
