Kuala Lumpur International Airport

I arrived at the airport around 4:20pm for my 7:55pm flight to Doha.

Check-in

The check-in desks opened exactly 3 hours before departure at 4:55pm. There was only a short queue for business class passengers so it did not take long before I was helped by an agent. I was given my boarding passes to Doha and to Stockholm. I was also informed of the lounge I had access to which was the Plaza Premium First in the main terminal, although my flight departs from the satellite terminal.

Fast Track

At the passport control, I had access to the blue lane which is for business and first class passengers.

Plaza Premium First

I had access to the Plaza Premium First which I thought was a very nice lounge 👍

Plaza Premium First

Ala carte dining

Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge (Satellite Terminal)

I left the Plaza Premium Lounge early so I could go to the satellite terminal (where my flight was leaving) and also visit the Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge before boarding.

Boarding, Gate C2

Security check is done at the gate so make sure you come early as there is no special lane for business class here.

Business Class

Seat map

The larger business cabin was from rows 1 to 4. Behind the galley was the smaller cabin from rows 5-7 where I was seated. The configuration on the B777 is 2-2-2 which means not every seat has aisle access. On this flight, only 3 of the 42 seats were not occupied.

Seat 7A

My seat 7A is a window seat and luckily, 7B was one of the 3 empty seats on this flight 👍 Already waiting at my seat is a Diptyque amenity box and refreshing towel, 2 pillows and a very nice duvet.

For my pre-departure beverage, I opted for a glass of still water.

Personal screen, storage

IFE controller, headphones

Safety card, air sickness bag

A lovely duvet

The Diptyque box had small tubes of lotion, face cream and lip balm as well as a perfume. There was also a pair of socks, eye shade and ear plugs. I am not sure if inbound flights to Doha always get the box kit although I hope they would always offer the Diptyque amenity bags irregardless of whether one is flying to or from Doha.

Pyjamas by The White Company as well as slippers were also offered, this being a night flight.

The flight attendant working on my aisle was a nice lady from Fiji. She took my drinks and food order before take off, as is the norm in Qatar Airways and I chose the non-sparkling wine for my drinks.

Take Off

We pushed back at 7:52pm and 26 minutes later, we were airborne.

Wifi

Sadly, wifi was not working on the several times I tried to connect.

Movie Selection

From the list of new movies, I ended up watching Wolfs which I thought was a funny movie.

Dining

I took advantage of the Pre-select dining and pre-ordered the lobster thermidor a few days before departure.

Menu card

Menu card, all day dining and light meal

Champagne

Beverage list

Minutes after the seat belt sign was turned off, the crew started offering some drinks and warm nuts as well as beetroot chips.

I had the non-alcoholic sparkling wine "So Jennie" 👍

Then, it was time for the proper meal, first to be offered was the bread and butter.

I also had the amuse bouche which was very good although I forgot what it was.

For starters, I had the duo of seafood (pepper crusted tuna and tiger prawn).

Then, I had the lobster which was very good 😋

I also had the cheese, again everything was lovely.

To end the meal I had the warm chocolate and macadamia nut brownie ...

and a cup of chamomile  tea.

Läderach pralines

The meal from starter to dessert was very good, one of the many things I like about Qatar Airways.

The FA also offered to make my bed and which I gladly accepted. I slept for a few hours and woke up about 4 hours before landing.

Lavatory

One of several lavatories, which was well-stocked with dental kits and shaving kits, and the usual Diptyque lotion and spray.

Landing in Doha

We landed in Doha around 10:32pm and reached our gate 5 minutes later.

Transferring in Doha

I had more than 8 hours transit in Doha and was given a free airport hotel at the Oryx Garden Hotel.

CONCLUSION

Having flown and enjoyed Qatar Airways business class between Doha and Copenhagen in November, I thought this flight was just as good. The food offering was very good, the crew were fantastic and the amenity kits and pyjamas were lovely. Of course, I admit that it would have made it less attractive if I had another passenger beside me as the window seats in the B777 do not have aisle access. Luckily, seat 7B was empty. Although wifi was not working, I did not mind it as I got to watch some nice movies. I also loved the fact that I could pre-order the lobster thermidor, which guaranteed that it would be served as my main course. Overall, it was a very nice flight and I hope more and more airlines could offer the same top notch service and amenities like Qatar Airways👍
