Earlier this week, I was able to visit Guatemala City where I stayed for 2 nights. I only had a short time exploring the city since my flight arrived late in the evening and I had to change my flight to Chicago to an earlier flight to sepnd 2 nights there instead of 1. The main attraction of Guatemala City is the Palacio Naciaonal de la Cultura which sadly was not accessible to the general public when I came in the morning as there was a special event. The catedral is closed on Mondays so there was not much I could do than to take photos from the where I was at Plaza de la Constitucion, and then visit the Mercado Central of Guatemala before heading to Paseo Cayala. Just as jeepneys are considered the local buses in the Philippines, the chicken buses are its equivalent in Guatemala. They are brightly colored American school buses which have been converted to become local buses and which have beautiful colors, especially at night. In case you are traveling to Guatemala City, here are some of my travel tips.
