Exploring Borobudur and Jakarta

Borobudur Temple, Yogyakarta

Trip to Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia & Indonesia

Last week, we were finally able to visit Borobudur Temple and enjoy the rest of the city during our 2 night-stay. We also spent our first night sadly in shock as we experienced the earthquake around 1:06am from our hotel room on the 6th floor. Luckily, there were no damages during the earthquake. In Jakarta, we opted to do the 4 hour tour of the city where we visited the National Monument, Istiqlal Mosque, the church of Our Lady of the Assumption and the Old Town. In case you are traveling to Borobudur and Jakarta, here are some of my travel tips:

Yogyakarta (Borobudur)

Borobudur has been on top of my bucket list for some time and it was so fulfilling to have visited the largest Buddhist temple in the world. The temple is actually older than the Angkor Wat in Siem Reap.

Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat is the Sultan's Palace (yes they have a Sultan in Indonesia).

Malioboro Street, pedestrian street famous for shopping and dining
