SAS Gold Lounge, Copenhagen Kastrup Airport

Before our flight, we were able to use the SAS Gold Lounge located on the second level (the Business Lounge is on the lower floor).

This is SAS first A330-300E named Tore Viking πŸ‘

Boarding, Gate E124

After clearing immigration, we arrived at the gate at 12:20pm.

Business Class Cabin

The business class cabin is arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration from rows 1 to 8, with a total of 32 seats two of which were empty.

Seat 8H

Seat 8H

The window seats in even numbers are much closer to the window while those in odd numbers are much closer to the aisle.

Personal screen (touch screen) had a very good resolution. From the film selection, I ended up watching Anora.

The pillow and the blanket are from the Swedish company DUX (as well as the amenity kit).

Noise cancelling headphones, DUX amenity kit, universal power port, headphone socket, USB-A port charger, bottle of water, seat controls

Noise cancelling headphones

Coat hook, tablet storage

Foot well

Safety card, air sickness bag

Foldable tray table

Amenity Kit

The collaboration with DUX meant the bag is DUX branded as well as the eye mask. There are 3 varieties: a travel pouch, a shoe bag and a laundry bag and on this flight, they had the laundry bag kit. As usual, a pair of socks, ear plugs, a dental kit and a lip balm and face moisturizer from Verso Skincare.

Pre-Departure Beverage

Moments after settling in, we were offered some drinks (apple juice, champagne or water) and I had a glass of bubbly.

Push back & Take Off

Around 1pm, push back began and 13 minutes later, we were airborne.

Service began with a hot towel.

Then, the table was set and we were offered some warm cashew nuts. I had a glass of Apple Must while Mike had a glass of bubbly.

Bread and butter

Mike opted for the Tataki-styled salmon and Mixed salad with caramelized seed.

I on the other hand had the beef tartare which was very good.

For main course, Mike had the Grilled chicken breast with biryani sauce.

I had the Beef top blade with osso bucco-style sauce which was perfect πŸ˜‹

Organic green tea

Mike had the cheese and Red currant panna cotta tartlet.

I had the organic ice cream lolly from Hansens Is πŸ‘

After the lovely meal, I continued watching Anora (which won the Best Picture at the Oscars later that day) and then slept for a few hours. The lie-flat bed was okay for me although the foot well was not the most spacious if you are a side sleeper. The pillow and blanket from DUX were comfortable (they used to have HΓ€stens).

Snacks Bar

Located on the left side of the cabin behind row 8 is the Snacks Bar. This is much better than the snacks bar of Turkish Airlines on their B777s.

Before Landing

About one and a half hours before landing, we were served some coffee or tea, pralines from Hedh-Escalante ...

And a traditional Scandinavian open-faced sandwich (gravad lax on Danish rye bread) and some cut fruits.

I also watched A Real Pain which I thought was a nice movie.

Lavatory

There are 2 lavatories both of which were located behind row 8. The larger lavatory is on the right side, while the smaller one is on the left side.

Landing in New York JFK

We landed in New York JFK Airport at 3:42pm (several minutes ahead of schedule) and reached our gate 8 minutes later.

CONCLUSION

There it was, my first ever long-haul flight with SAS in business class! So how was it? I´d say it was the average business class. The lie-flat seat was very good although my seat got stuck at the beginning of the flight and I had to get help from the FA to fix it. The food was delicious as expected. The personal screen had a very good resolution and film selection was very good. The snacks bar was actually better than what Turkish Airlines offer on their B777 so I am impressed with SAS. Sadly, the amenity kit is average just like what most airlines are offering (my favorites are from Qatar Airways, EVA Air and Emirates). Lastly, service was very friendly. Overall, it was a very nice flight with SAS and will definitely look forward to flying more with them in the future, especially with the 1M points I got from them πŸ‘
