Swiss Senator Lounge, Concourse A

Flying business class to Larnaca and having Star Alliance gold status at the same time, we had access to three lounges, the Swiss Senator Lounge where we spent most of our time, as well as the Swiss Business Lounge and the Swiss Alpine Lounge. Thankfully we had enough time to visit all three lounges 😉

Boarding, Gate D35

The boarding gate was a bit of a walk from the lounge so we decided to leave at 1:45pm and head to the gate for the 2:15pm scheduled boarding.

Before boarding started, there was check of Covid-19 vaccination by the gate. Boarding then started at 2:20pm with those flying in business class and with status getting priority boarding.

Business Class Cabin

The business cabin consisted of 5 rows with a total of 20 seats in a 2-2 configuration with the middle seat being blocked. On this flight, 16 seats were occupied.

The flight attendant working in the business class cabin came to take our meal order. There was a choice between braised beef or mushroom tortellini and I chose the former.

At 2:50pm, we began our push back.

Six minutes later, the safety video was played on the screen.

Take Off

At 3:01pm, we had a nice take off with great views of Zurich being seen from the window in a minute.

We also had fantastic views of the Alps minutes later 😊 Around 3:20, the captain came on the PA to give us some flight information.

Dining

Minutes after the seatbelt sign was turned off, the crew started serving snacks and drinks. The drinks trolley came offering among others softdrinks and Champagne which was Duval Leroy.

Mike had the Fever-Tree tonic water to go with his snacks.

Then it was time for some early dinner. The whole meal was served in a tray.

We were also offered some bread which was probably one of the best bread we had ever been served on a plane 👍 The braised beef with polenta was very good 😋

For his drinks, Mike had the Quöllfrisch beer while I had my usual apple juice.

To end the meal service, I had a cup of green tea.

The crew were actually very pro-active in serving drinks so Mike had some Baileys in the end.

We also got the Edelweiss cookie 👍

Entertainment

Although there were no personal screens in the seat, passengers were able to connect their mobile or laptop to Edelweiss wifi for free to watch some movies which I thought was a big plus. I decided to connect to their wifi using my mobile and browsed its contents.

Landing in Larnaca Airport

At 6:39pm, the captain was back on the PA to update us on our flight, informing us that we would soon start our descent and that we would be landing in 20 minutes, with the current temperature of 22 degrees in Larnaca. 

We landed in Larnaca at 7:04pm.

And reached our gate 4 minutes later.

We parked in a remote stand then walked our way to the terminal. There were automated machines were we had our passports scanned and photos taken, which actually went smoothly.

Minutes later, we were on our way to the arrivals hall.

CONCLUSION

It was our first time to fly with Edelweiss so it was interesting to see how the service was especially in business class. We were actually impressed as the service was very good. The crew were friendly and would always ask if we needed something especially during the meal service. The food tasted very good and the drinks offered were also great. Overall, we had a great time flying Edelweiss business class and would gladly recommend it to others, especially for the price we paid. To all the crew on this flight, danke schön!
