CONCLUSION

Last time we were in Dubai back in September, we stayed at the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah and really loved it as it has direct access to the beach. Of course, guests staying at the Hilton Dubai The Walk also have access to the beach thru the bridge so it was not a big deal. Aside from the "not so direct access to the beach", the other downside from our experience was that there were not enough elevators and we had to wait a long time. Twice, we had to use the stairs from our room on the 7th floor to go to the breakfast restaurant located at the Lower Plaza (LP) and again from the room to the Lower Plaza to access the bridge to the beach.

Unfortunately on this stay, we arrived around 2:45pm at the hotel and was helped by an associate after waiting for about 10 minutes only to be told that we had to wait for 30 minutes for the room to be ready, although she said they had upgraded us to a nice room. We were told to wait in the Executive Lounge as it was open for Afternoon Tea from 3pm to 5pm. At 4pm, we were still waiting and nobody was informing us how long we had to wait nor was there an apology that the room was still not ready. Around 5:10pm, I asked the staff in the lounge to follow up the room and she came back saying it was still not ready. We thought it was best to go down to the reception and speak directly to the Front Office Supervisor. I complained and asked them to book us to another hotel as it was already 5:15pm and we still haven´t gotten our room. He apologized and said the delay had something to do with the problem in the bathroom and it had to be fixed by the plumber and that the room was now ready. He also offered to give us complimentary dinner vouchers for two at the Oceana Restaurant in the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah. The room we got upgraded to had one of the loveliest views so were really happy about that. It was unfortunate that they did not communicate well with us as to how long we had to wait as we were told a wait time of 30 minutes when we actually waited for more than 2 hours. Still, it was a very nice stay since the JBR is one of the best areas in Dubai to stay with access to the beach, shops and restaurants.
