Dubai International Airport, Terminal 1

We arrived at the airport really early and headed directly to the check-in area located in Area 2 of Terminal 1.

Area 2, Terminal 1 Dubai Airport

Check-in, Desk D9

We were immediately helped by an agent and got our boarding passes within a few minutes after presenting our digital Vaccine Certificate and a negative PCR test.

Then we headed to Concourse D to visit the lounge.

British Airways Lounge, Dubai Terminal 1

Access to the British Airways Lounge is now restricted to first class passengers, GGL and Gold members while those flying in business class as well as those with Sapphire and Bronze status were directed to the nearby Marhaba Lounge.

Mike ordered the Pepperonata penne pasta which he thought was okay.

Our ride to London πŸ‘

Boarding, Gate D9

We arrived at the gate around 1:05am for the scheduled 1:40am boarding.

As usual, there was priority boarding for premium passengers.

First Class Cabin

British Airways A380 first class cabin

The first class cabin had a total of 14 seats all of which were occupied that night.

Seat 4K

Welcome to my seat 4K. We flew on the same aircraft and cabin the week before so I will just concentrate more on the food and service.

Already waiting at my seat (ottoman) is a blanket and the headphones as well as a bottle of water. Interestingly, the crew were not distributing the usual Dettol hand wipes during boarding.

From the movie selection, I ended up watching a movie with Meryl Streep called "Let Them All Talk" which I thought was a nice funny movie πŸ‘

Moments after settling in, I was offered something to drink by a lady flight attendant who would be working on my side of the cabin as she introduced herself. I had my usual apple juice.

Minutes later, I was also offered the PJs, slippers and the amenity kit.

The male amenity kit consisted of a Temperly wash bag with products from Elemis.

Delay

Minutes after the flight attendants have distributed the menu card and took the meal order, the captain came on the PA. He informed us that there was a delay because of a water leak and they are not sure when it will be fixed. About 20 minutes later, the captain was back on the PA and informed us that the engineers are fixing the problem and that we would be ready to leave in 10 to 15 minutes. We pushed back at 3:22am followed by a safety demo. At 3:43am, we were airborne πŸ‘

Complimentary Wifi

Again, I had access to complimentary wifi as a first class passenger.

Dining

Menu card and wine list

The champagne on board was the usual NV Laurent-Perrier Grand SiΓ¨cle Champagne.

The air-dried shaved beef was very good πŸ˜‹

Mike on the other hand chose the "Mozzarella, plum tomato and fresh basil salad" and he loved it.

Some bread

For my main course, I had the "oven roasted chicken breast" which was very good as well.

The "Ricotta and Spinach Pansotti" Mike had was tasteful.

Mike had the strawberry and vanilla roulade πŸ˜‹

Time to Sleep

After a great meal, it was time to have a goodnight´s sleep. I went to the lavatory and when I came back to my seat, the flight attendant had already fixed my bed πŸ‘ Thanks so much!

Breakfast

I was able to sleep for a few hours and woke up at around 6:17am. My bedding was cleared and shortly after, the flight attendant took my meal order. I ordered for a smoothie and chose the mixed grill.

Landing in London

Around 7:24am, the captain was back on the PA and informed us that we would be landing in 40 minutes with the current temperature of 8 degrees in London. Around 7:45am, the lady flight attendant came to each seat to thank us for flying with British Airways. This gesture is something new although it is very normal when you fly Asiana and Thai in first class. We landed in London at 8:06am and reached our gate five minutes later.

CONCLUSION

Again, another great flight flying first class on British Airways. I thought this was actually better than our outbound flight despite the delay since the bread was not hard and the headphones were working fine πŸ˜‡ Also, the meals were very good and the flight attendants were super friendly. To all the crew on this flight, thanks a lot πŸ™
