Lufthansa business class, Stockholm to Frankfurt

Trip to Manila flying Lufthansa and Saudia Business Class

Introduction

It´s that time of the year again when Mike and I travel to the Philippines to celebrate Christmas and New Year. We actually fly separately as I am flying with Lufthansa and Saudia while he flies with SAS and Asiana Airlines. I am happy to be celebrating the most popular festive season for Filipinos right at home and I can´t wait for this trip to unfold 😉

Check-in, Stockholm Arlanda Airport Terminal 5

I arrived in Stockholm Arlanda Airport Terminal 5 before 1pm for my 2:30pm flight to Frankfurt. I was able to use the business class/status check-in desk and moments later, I was on my way to security.

Fast Track

Fast track is offered which is great. The airport is also modern so there is no need to remove liquids and laptops from your bags.

SAS Lounges

After clearing security, I saw that my flight was departing from the E gates. I was already near the F gates so I decided to visit the SAS Lounges by Mastercard there first. I first visited the business section and then asked the receptionist at the Gold section if I could also enter. Surprisingly, she said it was okay as Lufthansa has an agreement with SAS. I did not stay long and decided to visit the original lounge in the E gates. Since October 1, the SAS lounges in the E gates have become one, although the entrances are still separate.

Aircraft, Airbus A321

This Airbus A321 has a registration number of D-AIRL which according to planespotters is about 31 years old.

Boarding, Gate E9

Boarding began at around 2:20pm beginning with families with children followed by those with HON status and then business class passengers and Star Alliance gold members.

Business Cabin

The business class cabin consisted of seats from rows 1 to 4 although there were no seats 1D and 1F, with a total of 14 seats. On this flight, 9 of the seats were occupied.

My seat 5A was changed to seat 3A one day before the flight.

Seats 1A and 1C. As usual, the middle seats are blocked for privacy but they are normal economy class seats in reality. The legroom was spacious even at my seat 3A.

Coat hook

Duty free magazine, menu card for economy class passengers, safety card

We were also offered a bottle of mineral water, Aqua dOr.

Pushback and Take Off

We pushed back at 2:50pm and 9 minutes later, we were airborne.

Wifi

Lufthansa offers free messaging to members of the Lufthansa frequent flier program. If you want premium access, the rate is 8 EUR or 2,600 miles.

Dining

Moments after the seat belt sign was turned off, dining service began. The drinks trolley came and I chose a glass of apple juice.

Then, we were offered the menu. On this flight, they were serving cold meals: smoked salmon filet or creamy goat cheese, and then a dessert which was plum crumble. I chose the smoked salmon which was very good.

The whole meal was presented in a tray. We were also offered some bread, I had the pretzel.

I was asked if I wanted something more to drink and asked for a sparkling wine. Lufthansa serves Motzenbäcker Riesling Brut in business class.

A glass of bubbly

To end the meal service, we were offered the usual praline, this time with some Christmas packaging 🎄

Lavatory

There is one lavatory located in front of the cabin.

Landing in Frankfurt

Although we were delayed in Stockholm, we were still able to land early in Frankfurt.

CONCLUSION

There it was, another short flight with Lufthansa in business class. Flights within Europe are normally nothing special: the seats are okay and the food served are often very good. On this flight, the crew were also friendly. Overall, a nice flight.
