Check-in, Desks 39-41

The check in desks opened exactly three hours before the flight with desks 39-41 being used for business class passengers. The check-in agent upon seeing my booking, asked if I had a visa to Burma. After controlling my papers and deeming everything was okay, my luggage was checked in all the way to Rangoon. After about a couple of minutes, I got my boarding pass together with the lounge invitation from Thai.

Business Class Lounge

I was able to have access to the Silver Kris Lounge since I have a Star Alliance gold status. For a complete review of this lounge, please click here.

Boarding, Gate 10

With about 10 minutes left before boarding, I decided to head over to Gate 10 which was the gate being used for the flight to Bangkok that day.

Aircraft, Boeing 777 (Phanakhon)

The Boeing 777-200ER named Phanakhon taking me to Bangkok that Tuesday afternoon.

Business Class Cabin

The business class cabin has a 2-2-2 configuration with 29 of 30 seats being occupied that day.

I remember seating beside a Regional Director of a certain company in charge of operations in Thailand, Vietnam and Laos.

Pretty big screen for watching a short film or TV show.

Headphones

Pretty spacious legroom which is quite common with this aircraft.

Pre-departure Beverage

As soon as I was seated, a young cabin attendant came and offered me something to drink. The choices were a glass of champagne and two kinds of juices.

A few minutes later, the captain came to the PA and announced the flight time of 2 hours and 53 minutes. He also apologized for the late departure (it was 45 minutes delayed) because of heavy traffic. Hot towels, magazines and more drinks followed.

Dining

Menu card and wine list

The Manila-Bangkok menu

As soon as the seat belt sign was turned off, the cabin crews sprung into action starting with the serving of drinks and mixed rice crackers.

First Course
Smoked salmon Rosette with caper, mixed salad with Vinaigrette Dressing

Main Course
Pan-fried Fish with Mindanao sauce, Spinach and Pumpkin Rice

The other choices were Mixed Seafood with Garlic Basil, Beef Tips Tagalog with Eggplant and Onion Rings and Pork Stew Wushi style with Bell Pepper. For drinks, I decided to settle with a glass of apple juice. The champagne on board was the usual Piper Heidsieck Brut Champagne.

Assorted cheese, Fresh Fruits

Dessert
Pumpkin Cheese Cake

Tea, coffee, espresso and cappuccino were served after dessert but I declined.

Lavatory

Inside the lavatory, the skin care product was Aigner Parfum Clear Days.

CONCLUSION

Well, it was another great experience flying with Thai Airways. For a short flight, I thought the food was more than enough and tasted excellent. The cabin attendants were very friendly and the service was almost perfect. The delay had not been a problem to me since I had enough time to connect to my flight for Rangoon. Overall, a very nice flight. Thanks a lot, Thai Airways 😍
