Lufthansa Business Lounge, Gate B28 Non-Schengen

Our flight was departing from gate B11 so we thought we´d use the nearest Lufthansa Lounge in the B gates. We ended up using the Lufthansa Business Lounge in B28 located after passport control. I left the lounge at 9:08pm for the 9:20pm boarding time.

Boarding, Gate B11

After clearing passport control and security, I finally reached the gate at 9:25pm. Surprise: Mike and I just got upgraded to business class and we just had to pick up our new boarding passes from the gate agent.

The aircraft is parked in a remote stand so we had to take a bus to get there.

Aircraft, Airbus A319-100 (D-AIBF Sinsheim)

This 14-year old Airbus will fly us to Stockholm tonight.

Business Class Cabin

The cabin consisted of seats from rows 1-3, with a total of 12 seats in the usual 2-2 configuration with the middle seat being blocked. On this flight, only 1 seat was vacant.

Seat 3F

The legroom was okay for me.

The middle seat is blocked which is the standard in most European business class.

Inflight magazine, onboard menu and safety card.

Take Off

At 10:04pm, we were airborne.

Dining

Moments after the seatbelt sign was turned off, the flight attendant closed the curtain behind us row 3 and then started offering the menu. For this evening flight, there was a choice between a Vulcano ham and an Orecchiette pasta. For dessert, they had Pasteis de Nata.

At 10:19pm, dinner was served. Mike had the Vulcano ham which he liked 😋

I had the pasta which I thought was okay although a bit salty.

Bread was also offered.

Mike had a glass of sparkling wine.

I had a glass of apple juice as usual, and water with gas.

The flight attendant offered a refill of my apple juice. I also had a cup of tea.

To end the meal, we were offered some Nougat.

Lavatory

The lavatory is located in front of the cabin, on the left side after the galley.

Landing in Stockholm Arlanda Airport

We landed in Stockholm Airport at 11:56pm and parked near the terminal 3 minutes later although we still had to use the stairs.

CONCLUSION

It was a lovely surprise to know that I was upgraded to business class when my name was called by the agent from the departure gate. Both Mike and I were actually upgraded, and I was guessing it was because of our Star Alliance gold status. As usual, the seats were economy seats with the middle seats blocked. The meal served was okay although in comparison, we had a very nice beef tenderloin from Zurich to Stockholm last month flying SWISS business class. Overall, it was a nice flight considering we got upgraded 👍
