Exploring Legoland Malaysia

Legoland Malaysia

Booking a trip to Singapore gave us the chance to do a side trip to Johor Bahru in South Malaysia to visit the Legoland. We first stayed in Singapore for a night and the following day, we crossed the border at the Woodlands Checkpoint in Singapore, took a 5-minute bus ride to Johor Bahru Checkpoint, cleared Malaysian immigration and then took a short taxi ride to DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru. It was a very interesting experience as it was our first time to cross the border of 2 countries which we thought was very systematic, considering thousands do this everyday. We have previously crossed the border between Israel and Jordan although it was not as easy and quick as this one.

The Legoland Theme Park opened in 2012, and after one year, the hotel and the Water Park opened as well. The opening hours varies although it is open normally from 10am to 6pm. We paid 237.14MYR for an adult ticket and 189.52MYR for a senior, both of which were for non-Malaysians.

Most of the rides we did were the roller coaster type rides, as they seem to be the most popular rides. I´d say the attractions are varied and there is always something for the young ones and the not so young ones 😉 Of course, there are restaurants, shops, toilets and a Surau inside the theme park.

It took 400 hours to build the snake's head 🐍

During our visit, they were building the world´s longest Lego snake which would be 338 meters long when finished. Everyone is encouraged to participate so I did not hesitate and partake in this cool and epic initiative. This coincides with the celebration of the Lunar New Year and this year being the year of the snake!

Me together with the rest of the "builders" building the body of the snake.

As per their website, it took 400 hours for their Master Model Builders to build the 200kg snake head. And now, it is our turn to build the 338 meters body! This will be finished sometime in February, so hopefully all goes well.
