Trip to Bangkok flying in Qatar Airways Dreamliner & A380 Business Class
Last month, Mike and I traveled to Bangkok where we spent four nights exploring the city. Our original flight on Qatar Airways was in economy class but luckily, we ended up being upgraded on 3 of the 4 flights. Thanks, Qatar Airways! As for our lounge access, we had to rely on my Air Berlin Gold card as operational upgrades do not grant lounge access, aside from the fact that our upgrades were given at the gate. The weather in Bangkok was not perfect as there was a bit of showers almost everyday but still, we were able to make the most of it. As I have Hilton Diamond status, we chose the Conrad Bangkok and Millennium Hilton Bangkok as our "home in Bangkok", both of which I highly recommend to everyone as they are two of the best hotels we have stayed at. It was a very short but memorable trip and I really hope to be back soon to one of the most amazing cities in the world, Bangkok!

The first time I traveled to Thailand (with Mike) was in June 2011 where we stayed for a few days in the beautiful city of Bangkok, a few days in Koh Samet and a day in Pattaya. Last June, we were back again in Bangkok and were able to see most of the tourist attractions the city has to offer. We hope to discover more of Thailand as we plan to visit Chiang Mai (and hopefully other cities too) on our next trip but for the meantime, here are some of my travel tips which I highly recommend to all my fellow travelers.
The Grand Palace: This is such an enormous palace and is the most visited site in Bangkok.
The Chapel Royal of the Emerald Buddha: There's definitely a lot to see inside the Grand Palace so make sure you have enough time during your visit. The Chapel Royal of the Emerald Buddha is something you should not miss here.
Wat Arun: We actually visited this temple in the afternoon but I suggest visiting it again at night (when you have the time) since it's so much more beautiful when all the lights are lit.
Wat Pho: Again, make sure you have enough time to explore this site and don't miss the "Reclining Buddha" which is one of the largest Buddha statues in Thailand.
The Ananta Samakom Throne Hall: Definitely one of the best museums we have visited as the displays were extraordinarily beautiful.

Vimanmek Museum: Located in the Dusit Palace complex, this is the world's largest golden teakwood mansion and really worth a visit. Unfortunately, cameras are not allowed in the museum complex.
Bang Pa-in Palace in Ayutthaya: This palace complex also known as the Summer Palace was formerly used by the Thai kings.
Wat Yai Chai Mongkol: With its massive chedi, this is one of the major temples in Ayutthaya and simply not to be missed when visiting the city.
Wat Mahathat: The most photographed in this site is definitely the Buddha entangled with the roots of the trees.
Wat Phra Si Sanphet: With its three large chedis and the ruins of the Grand Palace to the right, this is a must visit when in Ayutthaya.
Wat Suwan Dararam: Considered as the only temple on Ayutthaya islands that is still inhabited by monks, you will surely notice the foundation (of the Ordination Hall) that is slightly curved in the middle. First, we thought it was due to an earthquake but the truth is it was a typical art style in the late Ayutthaya and early Rattanakosin structures.
Wat Ratchaburana: It is almost totally destroyed but still worth a visit when in Ayutthaya.

Dusit Zoo: It is the oldest zoo in Thailand. We actually did not have the time to visit it but I think it would definitely appeal to younger travelers.
Taking the boat along the Chao Phraya River is definitely something you should experience when in Bangkok.
Chinatown
Tuktuk: It is ubiquitous and is hard to miss when in Bangkok.
Shopping malls: If you love shopping, then Bangkok has a lot of malls where you can "shop till you drop".
Ko Samet: Thailand is overflowing with beautiful islands and Ko Samet is definitely one of them. We really had an enjoyable time here, no doubt about it.
Enjoying the food by the sea: One of the things we loved about our stay in Ko Samet was that everynight, we would be treated with all the delectable dishes the island has to offer.
Watching a fire show: Surely not to be missed when staying in an island.
Pattaya: Famous for its "crazy nightlife", you can also enjoy other attractions here like the beaches and the Sanctuary of Truth temple. Unfortunately, we only spent a night here so we were not really able to explore the place.
And since you are in Thailand, chances are you would encounter one of these lovely Siamese cats.
