Trip to Bangkok flying in Qatar Airways Dreamliner & A380 Business Class

Last month, Mike and I traveled to Bangkok where we spent four nights exploring the city. Our original flight on Qatar Airways was in economy class but luckily, we ended up being upgraded on 3 of the 4 flights. Thanks, Qatar Airways! As for our lounge access, we had to rely on my Air Berlin Gold card as operational upgrades do not grant lounge access, aside from the fact that our upgrades were given at the gate. The weather in Bangkok was not perfect as there was a bit of showers almost everyday but still, we were able to make the most of it. As I have Hilton Diamond status, we chose the Conrad Bangkok and Millennium Hilton Bangkok as our "home in Bangkok", both of which I highly recommend to everyone as they are two of the best hotels we have stayed at. It was a very short but memorable trip and I really hope to be back soon to one of the most amazing cities in the world, Bangkok!

CONCLUSION

Having visited the Cathay Pacific First & Business Class Lounge in Manila last year, I was expecting to see more or less the same design here in Bangkok (as it also has the famous Studioilse design). We were actually the first guests to arrive around 10pm and were greeted by the friendly staff who checked our boarding passes before being allowed access. Moments later, we were settling-in in one of their new Solo chairs, which has recently replaced the signature Solus chair that Cathay Pacific had for years. I personally like the new Solo chair better as it looks more stylish and matches perfectly with the design of the whole lounge. There is also the famous Noodle Bar where I had one of their bestsellers, "Wonton with noodles in Soup" which tasted just perfect. For my drinks, I headed to The Bar where I had a glass of iced tea prepared by the barman. From the Food Bar, I grabbed some salads and desserts which also tasted very good. Right past the bar to the right is the Bureau where 3 iMacs are located, as well as a more private seating located in the corner. The size of the lounge is actually slightly larger than the one in Manila although for me, it felt like this lounge is much smaller. I guess this is because the seating area is not that crowded in Manila as it is here in their Bangkok lounge where a lot of airlines are using it. There's also the usual washroom, babyroom and accessible toilet although there were no shower room which is understandable since one could always use the shower facilities in their lounges at Hongkong International Airport. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit in this lounge and felt like we were staying in a living room than in an airport lounge (the way Cathay Pacific wanted it to be), plus the luxury of having an excellent meal and drinks to complement our stay.
