I remember flying with Singapore Airlines for the first time back in 2004 and although it was in economy, I was really impressed with their service. This time, I was able to fly in business class and having high expectations, I was not disappointed. The service and food were excellent, something that Singapore Airlines is well known for.

SilverKris Lounge

Immediately after landing in Terminal 1, we went directly to the Silver Kris Business Class Lounge at Terminal 3, one of the best lounges we have visited.

Boarding

The separate bridge for business class passengers 👍

Business Class Cabin

The business class cabin has a 2-2-2 configuration with a total of 26 seats. The flight was quite full with only 8 seats vacant.

Seat 15K

My seat which was 15K was a window seat on the right hand side of the plane.

The magazines, entertainment guide (Kris World) and headphones were all placed together in a special holder between the two IFE screens. A coat hook is also located on the right hand side of the screen.

Each seat is equipped with a personal television. I decided to listen to Bruno Mars' album since I really love the song "Locked out of Heaven".

A very spacious legroom means it is being used when the seat is in full recline.

Headphones and blanket

Under the armrest is a universal AC power point as well as a pretty big space to keep your laptop.

A reading lamp is located on the left side just above the headphone socket.

Amenity Kit

The amenity kit includes a pair of soft socks and an eye shade.

Pre-departure Beverage

Champagne and a hot towel. The champagne on board was Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve.

Dining

Menu card

Prelude: Satay with onion, cucumber and spicy peanut sauce.

Starter: Fa Cal Yu Sheng - Prosperity New Year Salad with salmon to usher in the "Year of the Snake". Does it mean we are going to be travelling more this year? Yes 😍

Mike and I decided to order online from their "Book the Cook". I ordered the Japanese "Chargrilled Soya-Flavoured Beef" with vegetables simmered in mirin and shimeiji mushroom rice. This is designed by Singapore Airlines International Culinary Panel Chef Yoshihiro Murata, and it tasted perfect 😋

Mike on the other hand chose the "Lobster Thermidor" which is lobster tail sauteed in butter, flambeed in brandy, sprinkled with cheese and served with creamy mushroom sauce, garlic and spicy mustard, and buttered asparagus. He thought everything tasted great 👍

I decided to have a look at the menu, and among the choices were:

- Stuffed chicken with spinach and pine nuts in cress sauce, carrots and buttered tagliatelle with mushroom

- Braised prosperity pork rib with dried oyster in ginger-soya sauce, stir fried bailing mushroom, broccoli, carrot, cauliflower and fried rice

- Panfried beef fillet with mushroom sauce, sauteed vegetables and roasted potatoes

- Tandoori fish with mixed vegetables korma and lemon pilaf

Finale: Golden pineapple and raisin compote with vanilla ice cream 😋

On the menu card, both the stuffed chicken and the lemongrass infused creme brulee (dessert) were specially marked meaning they were exclusively created by Georges Blanc, Vonnas. For the health conscious, you can find meals marked with a heart on it meaning it is a healthier choice, with low cholesterol and saturated fat. On the menu, it was the stuffed chicken with spinach and pine nuts.

I decided to have a cup of Sencha, a Japanese green tea with a delicate aroma and a fresh clean taste, before taking a nap.

Lavatory

The lavatory had L'Occitane skincare products 😍

The idea of putting orchids in the lavatory just makes your visit even better 👍

Time to Relax

Although the seat doesn't turn into a fully flat bed, I thought it was still very comfortable. The flight was about 5 hours long and taking a short nap was all I needed.

Drinks

About less than an hour before landing, we were served something to drink and I sticked with a bottle of water which I got after the dinner service, while Mike ordered a glass of fresh orange juice.

Arrival in Perth

And because we flew in business class, we were the first ones to leave the plane, reach the immigration and security pass. Everything went very quickly. After a few minutes, we were outside the airport ready to take the taxi to our hotel for a good nights sleep before having a tour of the city the following day.

CONCLUSION

Flying with Singapore Airlines in business class is something to be experienced. The staff were very friendly and always making sure that everything is ok. That's five star service! The food was superb, specially the meals we ordered online through their "Book the Cook". We were addressed by our surnames. Funny that the in-flight manager addressed me as Mr. Jecebel but that's ok. The only thing I would have wished for was a better amenity kit. Otherwise, a very memorable experience flying with Singapore Airlines in business class 😍
