Trip to Bangkok flying in Qatar Airways Dreamliner & A380 Business Class

Last month, Mike and I traveled to Bangkok where we spent four nights exploring the city. Our original flight on Qatar Airways was in economy class but luckily, we ended up being upgraded on 3 of the 4 flights. Thanks, Qatar Airways! As for our lounge access, we had to rely on my Air Berlin Gold card as operational upgrades do not grant lounge access, aside from the fact that our upgrades were given at the gate. The weather in Bangkok was not perfect as there was a bit of showers almost everyday but still, we were able to make the most of it. As I have Hilton Diamond status, we chose the Conrad Bangkok and Millennium Hilton Bangkok as our "home in Bangkok", both of which I highly recommend to everyone as they are two of the best hotels we have stayed at. It was a very short but memorable trip and I really hope to be back soon to one of the most amazing cities in the world, Bangkok!

Qatar Airways First & Business Class Lounge reception

With about two and a half hours before our flight to Stockholm, Mike and decided we'd wait at the Qatar Airways Business Class Lounge which is for economy class passengers with One World status. About an hour before departure, we made our way to gate D20 which was a bit of a walk from the lounge.

Boarding

Gate D20, Hamad International Airport

Boarding was delayed as it started at 6:17am with only about 30 minutes before departure. As the agent scanned my boarding pass, something "magical" happened again and voila, I was once again upgraded to business class. Thanks so much, Qatar Airways!

Boarding

Cabin

As I boarded, I was greeted by Nikolaj, the Cabin Supervisor who escorted me to my seat, 5F. Unfortunately, Ann the Filipina flight attendant working on the right side of the business class cabin had mistakenly sat Mike on my seat. I immediately told her that it was okay as we are traveling together and that I would take Mike's seat instead. As we were the first ones to board, I had enough time to take pictures of the cabin.

The cabin has a total of 22 seats, only 2 of which were empty on that morning flight to Stockholm.

Seat

My seat 5E!

Already waiting at my seat was the business class amenity kit consisting of Giorgio Armani products among others. Moments later, Ann came to my seat to welcome me onboard and took my predeparture beverage order as well as my choice of towel. Nikolaj also came to my seat to welcome us again and apologize for the delay which according to him was due to late air clearance.

Seat controls and headphone socket

Moments later, Ann was back with my glass of apple juice and a cold towel.

As usual, the headphones and a bottle of mineral water were inside the storage under the left armrest.

Inflight magazine, safety card and waste bag

From my seat, I took a picture of seat 5A and noticed that it actually did not have a window (at least not exactly opposite the seat) which could be bothersome to others specially to those who love watching views outside.

Around 6:58am, boarding was completed. Newspapers were also offered although I declined. Moments later, pushback started. The captain came on the PA and apologized for the delay and informed us that due to the shorter flight time, we were expecting to arrive on time at Stockholm Arlanda.

Airshow

Moments later, the safety video began to play with the usual FC Barcelona football team as the stars.

Ann once again came to my seat to apologize for not having the time to take the meal order and promised to do that after take off. Moments later, we were airborne.

Mike on the other hand had a glass of bubbly and a cheeseplate.

To end the meal service, hot towels were offered as usual. About 30 minutes before landing, the captain came on the PA with updated flight information. Rizky and Nikolaj came to my seat once again to thank me for flying with them.

Landing at Stockholm Arlanda Airport

We landed at Arlanda Airport at 11:54am ahead of schedule and parked at gate 17 beside a Turkish Airlines aircraft.

CONCLUSION

Yet another great flight in Qatar Airways business class! The crew was once again fantastic, and the food tasted very good as always. The fact that we were delayed from Doha did not affect our flight as we actually landed on time. Great seat that turns into a fully flat bed and all with direct aisle access, lovely amenity kits from Giorgio Armani and extensive movie selection to choose from ... it couldn't be better and I really wish more and more airlines could offer the same great product and service Qatar Airways is offering to its business class passengers. To all the crew on this flight and to Qatar Airways for yet another upgrade, Shukran!
