First visit: April 2013
My Country #31

In April 2013, I was able to visit Canada for the first time together with Mike, where we spent two nights in Montreal. The following year, I spent four nights in Vancouver visiting some friends and a few days after that, I was able to enjoy a day tour in Toronto during my lay over. Canada is a very beautiful country with friendly people and I really hope to be able to visit this country again in the future. In case you are visiting any of these three Canadian cities in the future, here are some of my traveltips.

Science World at Telus World of Science: Opened in 1989, this science centre is run by a not-for-profit organization in Vancouver.

Dr. Sun Yat Sen Garden: This is the first Chinese or "scholars" garden built outside of China. Of course, the China Town itself is very interesting and full of restaurants where you can enjoy authentic Chinese food, the way I did.

Vancouver Look Out: This is a must visit if you intend to see great views of the city.

Dominion Building: This 13 storey, 53 metre (175ft) tall building was Vancouver's first steel framed high-rise.

Vancouver Art Gallery

Canada Place: An iconic landmark which is home of the Vancouver Convention Centre and the Pan Pacific Vancouver Hotel among others.

Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art

Christ Church Cathedral: This is the cathedral church of the Anglican Diocese of New Westminster of the Anglican Church of Canada.

Steam Clock: Located in Vancouver's Victorian Gastown, this working steam clock is one of only few steam clocks in the world.

Lonsdale Quay Market: Aside from the numerous shops and restaurants, you get to enjoy Vancouver's best view from the North Shore's waterfront market and shops.

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park: Inside the park are lots of attractions including the Capilano Suspension Bridge which was originally built in 1889.

Stanley Park where you get really great views of the Vancouver Skyline.

Lions Gate Bridge: Also known as First Narrows Bridge, this is a suspension bridge designated a National Historic Site of Canada.

Vancouver Public Library with its impressive architecture.

Bloedel Conservatory located in Queen Elizabeth Park

Peace Arch Park British Colombia

CN Tower: In 1995, the CN Tower was classified as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Ripleys Aquarium of Canada

Rogers Centre, originally named Skydome

Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church

Roy Thomson Hall: A concert hall which opened in 1982.

Royal Alexandra Theatre

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation

Notre Dame Basilica of Montreal: With its Gothic Revival architecture, this is simply beautiful. Make sure you don't miss the "light show" in the evening.

Le Mur de Berlin: A remnant of the Berlin Wall located inside the World Trade Centre Montreal

Montreal Tower: This is the highest inclined tower in the world.

Montreal City Hall

Centre Bell: This is the largest arena for hockey in North America
