Me with the beautiful view of Kandy from Arthur's Seat

Last month, Mike and I travelled to Sri Lanka for the first time and were really amazed by the culture and the people we met along the way. During our four night tour of the country, we learned that the people eat a lot of spicy food 😉 Here are some of the things we visited and saw during our short trip to this land formerly known as "Ceylon".

Sri Lanka and Buddhism flags

Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic was definitely the highlight of our tour as it is the most visited top attraction in this country.

As the name of the temple suggests, here you will find the relic of the tooth of Buddha.

Kandy Lake

Kandy town, being on the UNESCO World Heritage list, is not to be missed. Enjoy the old architecture and the friendly people.

Watch a Kandyan cultural dance show

Arthur's Seat: From here, you will get the best view of the city of Kandy

Visit a Catholic church: Having been a colony of Portugal, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, there are lots of Catholic churches here in Sri Lanka.

Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawala: Around 12 noon, a big group of elephants were brought to the nearby river for bathing so make sure you come at the right time to witness this extraordinary event 👍

Tuktuks, Sri Lankan style

A public bus in Sri Lanka

Visiting Sri Lanka or "Ceylon" as it was formerly called, would not be complete without drinking the famous Ceylon tea.

There are lots of beautiful waterfalls in Sri Lanka so make sure to visit one. This waterfalls is located in Nuwara Eliya.

A lot of hard work goes to collecting only the best leaves for tea making.

Nuwara Eliya is also known as the "Little England" as manifested by the Post Office here 😍

Grand Hotel in Nuwara Eliya: To stay in this hotel is not a must but if you have the time to visit the hotel, they have really nice gardens and of course, the interior is really beautiful.

Do what the locals do and drink their Ginger Beer!

The Parliament of Sri Lanka in Colombo

Victoria Park in Colombo

Colombo Municipal Council (which looks familiar, doesn't it)

The name of the streets written in three languages: Sinhala, Tamil and English 👍
