Check-in, Casablanca Airport Terminal 2

The Air France check-in desks (21-24) opened at 3:10am for the 5:55am departure.

Aspire Lounge

After using fast track (it had both passport control and security check), I went straight to the Aspire Lounge. This lounge is much smaller than the nearby Zenith Lounge by Royal Air Maroc I visited last October.

Airlines using the lounge include Air France, Lufthansa and Air Canada.

The design is more modern than the Zenith Lounge but the food and drinks offering is sub par here. There is no toilet here either and you have to go outside first. Luckily, it is just a few steps from the lounge.

Harcha was among the offering during breakfast which also included cold cuts, croissants, juices and pastries.

Boarding, Gate A3

Boarding began at 5:25 am although the aircraft was parked in a remote stand so we had to take a bus.

Business Class Cabin

The cabin had a total of 28 seats from rows 1-7 in a 2-2 configuration. 14 of the 28 seats were occupied.

Business cabin

Seat, 6A

My seat is a window seat.

Coat hook, wifi signage

Cup holder

Tray table

USB port located in front of the armrest

The legroom was okay for me.

Safety card

Moments after settling in, we were offered some refreshing towels.

Also on offer was a bottle of mineral water.

Take Off

At 6:20am, we were airborne.

Dining

There was turbulence almost the whole flight. Dining service was limited to the crew bringing the trays to each seat without the trolley. Drinks order were taken and brought to the seat as well.

The breakfast served was uninspiring in my opinion, especially as it was in business class. There were cheese, harcha with walnuts and fig, jams and yogurt with raspberry.

Bread was also offered.

For drinks, I asked for green tea. (I was first served the normal lipton tea).

To end the service, some snacks/chocolates were offered. I had the dark chocolate first.

On the refill, I had these biscuits.

Wifi

There was free messaging for Flying Blue members. The premium wifi was not cheap though as it was for EUR 18 or 3600 miles.

Lavatory

There is one lavatory located in front of the cabin.

Landing in Casablanca Airport

At 8:15am, the captain came over the PA with some flight updates including an estimated landing time of 8:55am. We landed at 8:51am and reached the gate 6 minutes later.

CONCLUSION

This was my first time to fly Air France business class outside Europe (although not long haul). Sadly, the food and drinks offering were underwhelming. It did not help that there was turbulence almost the whole flight. The crew were friendly as usual. Overall, I would not recommend flying business class with Air France on this route.
