Months ago, we decided to book a trip to Vienna from Stockholm and stay there for 2 weeks where we would take a side trip to Croatia by bus and train. We thought we would take a bus to Zagreb and stay there for 2 nights and then proceed to Rijeka and Opatija for a stay of 4 nights before taking the train back to Vienna. We planned our trip early so we were able to get good rates for our hotel stays which included staying at two Hilton properties in Zagreb (DoubleTree by Hilton and the Canopy by Hilton Zagreb City Centre) as well as the Hilton Rijeka Costabella Resort and Spa which opened July of last year, and where we got an upgrade to their Costabella Suite. It was really cool to have done this trip as all three cities we visited were lovely and the people were friendly.

The location of the hotel is a bit far from the city center if you walk but taking a tram or a taxi is very easy.

CONCLUSION
There are three Hilton properties in Zagreb and for our 2 night stay in the city, we chose this hotel DoubleTree by Hilton Zagreb for our first night and the Canopy Zagreb for the second night. The Hilton Garden Inn might have to wait for our next visit to Zagreb. Although the DoubleTree Hotel is already 9 years old, I still think it has a modern design and that the rooms are still in good shape. The staff were all friendly and the breakfast buffet was very good including the Prosecco DOC. The only item I thought was missing was the smoked salmon although they had mackerel. The pool was one of the coolest pools I´ve seen with fantastic views. The location is not really ideal if you want to be in the city center but taking a tram or taxi is easy and only takes a few minutes. Overall, we loved this hotel and for the rate we paid, would gladly recommend it.
