Last week, Mike and I traveled to Madeira to spend five nights in this lovely Portuguese island. It was our first time to travel outside Sweden after more than a year so we were really excited about it, especially me as I haven´t been to Madeira before. I have to say it was worth it even if we had to test negative to Covid19 before and after flying to Madeira and wear our face masks whenever we were in public places. It is the new normal so I guess we have to live with it. In case you are traveling to Madeira in the future, here are some of my travel tips.

Funchal Cathedral also known as the Cathedral of our Lady of the Assumption

Palácio de São Lourenço, this is Madeiras first fortress

Farmers´ Market, here you will find all the fresh fruits and vegetables you will need as well as a fish market.

Taking the Madeira cable car will give you the best views of the city 👍 The ticket cost is 16 Euros.

Igreja Paroquial de Nossa Senhora do Monte is located a few meters away from the end of the cable car ride.

Exterior of the Igreja Paroquial de Nossa Senhora do Monte

Monte Palace Madeira. There are lots of beautiful parks in Madeira, after all the island is called the Land of Eternal Spring. There is also the nearby Botanical Garden in case you have more time to visit parks and gardens.

The Toboggan Ride (downhill basket ride) is something for those thrill-seekers 😊

Marina do Funchal

Cristiano Ronaldo Statue. And in case you didn´t know, the airport of Madeira was renamed after the football star in March 2017 👍

A few steps away from this fishing village is the Pestana Churchill Bay, with rooms inspired by the works of Winston Churchill.
