After spending a night in Bangkok, it was time to continue our trip and this time we were headed to Singapore. We chose Thai Airways over Singapore Airlines for two obvious reasons: Bangkok is Thai Airways' hub which means the facilities are great; and it gave us access to their Royal Orchid Spa where I had a very relaxing massage for free.

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport

We were welcomed by these lanterns as we entered the terminal reminding us that Chinese New Year had just been celebrated.

Check-in, Aisle A

For the Royal Silk Class passengers, Thai Airways uses the check in desks located in section A of the terminal.

A very nice Thai agent helped us checking in and after a few minutes, we got our boarding passes as well as the lounge invitation.

Thai Airways Royal Silk Lounge

After passing thru the security control using the fast track, we went directly to the Thai Airways Royal Silk Lounge, a very nice lounge that gave us access to the Royal Orchid Spa at the same time.

Seat 17A

My seat which was 17A was a window.

Personal screen

I remember watching a TV series instead considering the short flight duration.

IFE controller

Headphones

The seat control gives pretty basic settings.

Located on the right side of the seat is a reading lamp although it wasn't really necessary for a day flight.

Just under the armrest is a universal AC power point.

I tried to see how flat my seat would be if it is fully reclined and this is how it looked like. Again lying flat was not necessary since it was a very short flight.

Dining

The menu cards looked pretty much the same on all Thai Airways flights.

Right after take off, the service started with a glass of champagne and a hot towel.

Some cashew nuts 😉

The first course: Smoked Local Duck with Melon, Marinated Norwegian Salmon, Stuffed Cherry Tomato with Mustard Dill Sauce.

The tray also came with assorted bread, crackers, butter and cheese. For my drink, I ordered a very refreshing glass of tea.

I wanted to test Thai Airways "online meal request" so I decided to order from their menu a week before our flight. My choice: Chinese Roast Duck served with own Gravy, Steamed Rice, Chinese Broccoli (Kale) and Soy Sauce with Sliced Chili. Lovely 👍

The choices for the main course:

- Pan fried Prawn in Saffron Cream Sauce, Steamed Potatoes with Italian Parsley, Buttered Spinach, Carrot

- Stir fried Chicken with Garlic, Chili and Basil Leaves, Steamed Thai Hom Mali Rice, Fried Egg

- Classic Sweet and Sour Red Snapper, Egg Fried Rice, Oriental Vegetables

For dessert, I had Raspberry Mascarpone cake and a cup of tea. Everything from the first course up to the dessert tasted fabulous 😋

Lavatory

The toilet looks very clean and fresh. The fact that they have Bulgari for their skin care products is definitely superb.

Unfortunately, they are not using the pedal trash bin on this flight.

Arrival in Singapore Changi Airport

Although the flight from Bangkok departed about 20 minutes late thus arriving late as well in Singapore Changi Airport, we weren't that concerned because we had about two and a half hours before we take our next flight.

CONCLUSION

It was a very short flight from Bangkok to Singapore but nevertheless, a very nice one. To be able to have access to the Thai Royal Orchid Spa was a big plus since I really enjoyed my massage treatment. Also, ordering a meal online worked well, signifying that Thai is a reliable airline. If you are flying in business class from Bangkok to Singapore, I would say that flying with Thai Airways is the best alternative. Till next time 😍
