Hotel Exterior & Entrance

The hotel opened it´s doors in February this year so this is a very new hotel.

Reception & Lobby Seating

We arrived at the hotel around 1:20pm and was helped by Milagros, an associate who was nice and very welcoming. I learned that the hotel just opened in February so it is only 6 months old during our stay. There are only 17 rooms in the hotel which makes it really exclusive.

The name of the hotel comes from the Spanish word Pinus Nigra which is a species of pine that can grow up to 55 metres tall and live for over 500 years. They are only found in the highest mountains of the Andorran Pyrenees.

Welcome drinks were offered although we declined as we had just taken our lunch prior to arriving at the hotel.

Since this is an award stay (I redeemed 60K Hilton points for a 1-night stay), I only had to pay the Touristic tax which was 2.09 Euro per person. Breakfast hours and other hotel informations were also given to us.

Room 43, Junior Suite

Milagros went with us to the room so she could give us more info, and as we went upstairs, we were informed that we were upgraded to a Junior Suite. It was really spacious (45 sq. m) and has a walk-in closet and living area. There are only 3 rooms on the 4th floor, with our room being the biggest.

Exploring the Area

Just a few minutes walk from the hotel is the Caldea Spa which opened in 1994.

Av. Carlemany full of shops and restaurants is very close to the hotel.

Casa de la Vall (in the city center).

Mirador Roc del Quer in Canillo is about a 25-minute car ride from the hotel. The road was zigzag on the way to the top but it was worth it once you get there. I actually had the associate working during our check out help me call a taxi so I could visit this attraction. I did not get his name but thanks a lot!

CONCLUSION

It was our first time to visit Andorra so we were really excited to stay at The Blackpine Hotel. Knowing that it is an SLH hotel, we really had high expectations. These expectations were not only met but were exceeded by how we were welcomed by the staff, the room upgrade to a Junior Suite and a bottle of Cava sent to our room in the evening. The room was modern and had all we could ask for. The breakfast offering was also very good. Although the location is far from the historic center, the hotel  is close to the main shopping street in the area´and the Caldea Spa. We had an amazing stay in this hotel and would gladly recommend it to everyone visiting Andorra. To all the staff of The Blackpine Hotel, thank you so much!
