We landed on time at the Narita International Airport and headed directly to the United Global First Lounge.

Aircraft, Boeing 777-200

The  Boeing 777-200 bound for Singapore 😉

Boarding, Gate 32

The flight was actually 45 minutes delayed because they had to wait for the connecting passengers. Boarding started at 5:30 at gate 32.

The separate bridge for first class passengers was on the left side.

First Class Cabin

This is the same aircraft we flew with from Seoul to Tokyo a few hours back so everything looked familiar. Also, I flew on the same route last month so I would just be concentrating on the meal service here.

Seat 1C

Another pair of slippers

Lots of films to watch and I ended up watching Hobbit: The desolation of the Smaug.

Pre-Departure Beverage

Mike settled for a glass of bubbly as his pre-departure beverage. The champagnes on board included Philipponnat Reserve Millesime 2005, Henriot Brut 2007 and Nicolas Feuillatte Brut 2008. On the other hand, I asked the cabin attendant if they had guava juice and I was informed that the last time they served that on board was about 10 years ago, on their flights to Honolulu. I ended up ordering a glass of water.

Singapore Airlines The Private Room

The flight went smoothly and we landed at Changi International Airport at Gate B8, Terminal 3 at around 12:40am. We headed directly to the Singapore Airlines "The Private Room" for a late dinner 👍

Since the "Private Room" is not open 24 hours, we transferred to the First Class Lounge where we had a short nap.

CONCLUSION

So it was my second time flying on United first class on this route and I thought the service was very good. The food though was just okay and maybe subpar with other airlines offerings. One thing I noticed was that they would block the way to the lavatory with their food trolley whenever the captain is inside the toilet. It makes sense since one could just go to the cockpit and take control of the plane if they don't block it. Overall, a nice flight.
