2 Days in Munich

Inside the Munich Residence

Last week, Mike and I visited the beautiful city of Munich, the capital of Bavaria. We spent two nights there (staying both at the Hilton Munich City and Hilton Munich Park) which gave us enough time to explore the city. I guess most people think of Munich as the Oktoberfest place and the producer of the luxury car BMW but aside from that, it's is also rich in culture and history. In case you are planning to visit Munich in the future, here are some travel tips:

New Town Hall: With it's neo-gothic design, this town hall is one of the most beautiful I've seen. Make sure you listen to the clock play at 12 noon the way we did.

Marienplatz: This is the central square where the New Town Hall can be found.

Frauenkirche: With its two towers (not so) matching the architectural style of the building, this church is one of the symbols of Munich.

Hofbrauhaus: German beer, wonderful music and great food: a visit to one of Munich's oldest breweries is simply not to be missed.

Munich Residence: As a former royal palace, it served as residence of the Bavarian dukes and kings among others.

St. Peter's Church: As the oldest church in Munich, the church's tower was also where I had fantastic views of the city center. Beware, there are no elevators and you have to climb almost 300 steps to reach the top but once there, panoramic views of the city will be your reward. The fee to climb the tower is 3 Euros.

Public transportation

BMWs are not normally used as taxis unless you are in Bavaria so incase you need a ride, feel free to try these taxis 👍
